Being born near there was many years ago, have not been to Birmingham since childhood, have heard it's good for shopping.....

As for my shopping, I already have to do some returns!!!!
So I must slow down...... Kat x look forward to all your parcels arriving at your door....

Grew up in Worcestershire myself and went up Brum many a time to the Bull ring and Hamleys toy store at xmas-still got the accent slightly but more noticeable when I'm angry for some reason.

Most of my present shopping is also done online. So much easier and quicker then my hubby taking me out and pushing me in my wheelchair and avoiding the crowds.

I lived in Redditch and then Pershore and it was an easy train ride to New street Brum from Redditch station.

Hi Paul.....it was alcester for me .....but sooooo Long ago

Small world! My first job was on the Arden Forest industrial estate and I had a couple of family meals at the Lord Nelson pub when I was little :)

Starting 1st dec is good, some shops don't cover returns for Xmas gifts if bought now....

Yes! Birmingham is great for shopping. I live just outside of Coventry and make the annual pilgrimage to Birmingham on 22nd December to do all my last minute Christmas shopping. Great choice of shops both inside and outside of the Bullring

Definitely outside of the Bullring! Whilst I admit to shopping there, I do love the choice that is outside of the main mall.
Good to see so many midlanders here!

I used to use Merry Hill a lot back in the day too although parking was a pig.

It still is!
I live closer to Merry Hill than Birmingham, and hate the place. This time of year is a complete nightmare there.

Only ever been to Merry Hill once and didn't think much to it really. As you say, parking is a pain in the proverbial, and I think there's much better places to shop! Personally, I love Leicester for shopping. High Cross has a great choice of shops and the high street is fantastic. Lots of little independant shops in the lanes too which is such a rare sight these days.

My son has an appointment at Birmingham Childrens Hospital at the start of Dec, because we have to fly down it means I'll have the weekend for some retail therapy :-)

Hope your son gets on okay at the hospital. I'm sure you've earned a little retail therapy
