Chronic Urine/Bladder infection/UTI

Hi @briony1, not sure if they've been chronic, since they were treatable with antibiotics, but in my much younger days when my blood sugars ran much higher I used to get them quite frequently (they often got picked up by my diabetic clinic). I also used to get thrush (sorry if that's TMI too much information).

Like Ellie I’m not sure if mine was classed as chronic as it was always treated with antibiotics/cream and for the most part without doctors input as you can get the treatments over the counter and I knew the symptoms but when my blood sugars were quite bad I had UTI/Thrush/BV at least once every other month or so. I still do sometimes get them now, although not near as often anymore but my blood sugars are a lot better now.

Does anyone here suffer with a chronic UTI?
Yes a couple of years ago I kept getting them. Finally I spoke with a urologist who gave me a completely different course of antibiotics for a week not 3 days and I now take DMannose every day as a preventative measure and I haven’t had another UTI since.

Yes & thrush when blood glucose very high - not since I’ve been controlling BG though. Antibiotics from GP & always make sure you are always well hydrated (pee colour of very weak tea). Horrible hope you get it under control.
