Chunk out of my finger!

Hi Friends

On thursday i was slicing some potatoes, and took a chunk out of my thumb :( the chucnk was found on the slicer...anyway it bled and bled...by hubby did a great job of dressing it, , the very raw!! anyway the following day i rang the GPs to see if it would need checking with being type 2 etc...they adviced i came in that day and let the nurse see it....she did say it was a fair chunk out of it, but said it should be ok redressed it, and i have to go back monday for it checking on, this is going to take ages and ages to repair, My dad has freaked me out my saying i might need a skin graft!!!! altho i very much doubt it...is there anything i can do to help the healing procces?, many thanx for reading xx
 
Keep your blood sugar TIGHT. High blood sugars delay healing!

Ps last time I sliced myself in the kitchen, i healed normally in a few days
 
I would check this advice first but, this week our dog had a cyst on his back burst which left a large hole. We thought it would need stitching etc, but surprisingly he is on antibiotics and manuka honey (medical strength) being spread on the wound. It's working really well in healing it :shock:

Hi there ermmm dont think dad should of said that :eh: but if it was serious, then I would of thought you would of been sent to the hospital. I am always cutting myself especially in the garden and DIY, but no chuncks taken out, but I did hammer my left thumb last week putting up a blind, and it did hurt a bit, but its ok :thumbup: try and keep your BS stable and at a good level. Thank you all for your advice, it is a bad cut, but i guess the nurse would have known what was needed, altho she did have to go thru all the other medical rooms looking for dressing :crazy: , on the possitve note they collared me for a slightly over due diabetic assesment, so after changing my dressing i get my foot pulses done and bloods taken :clap:
