I’m new to this forum. Although sceptical I recently tried out supplement sold by Metabolae: Ceylon Cinnamon in MCT (coconut) oil. Within a matter of days my blood glucose levels came down almost 10% and I am on track to have reduced my HbA1c levels from 7.3% to 6.5%. I’m just starting to try out a very similar product from WellCura. Does anyone have experience of these various suppliers. I’m having difficulty getting them to show certificates of quality, authenticity, safety etc. Which brand is best?

I eat one Cinnamon roll every day and regularly exercise at least 30 minutes every day and eat about every thing toast with peanut butter and honey and two apples every day and then check level after 6 hours and the results are always between 4.7 to 6.5 .

Any recommendations please

Hi. I have absolutely no experience with supplements, cinnamon or otherwise, but I thought I should make a point about testing. I'd recommend testing immediately before you eat and then again two hours later. The high blood glucose point should be reached after around 40 minutes (but you're not testing to see that) and your BG should have returned close to your starting point at the two hour mark. If the second reading is the same or close to where you started, that's a clear sign that your system can cope with the level of carb in what you ate.

In my view testing six hours after eating is essentially useless as an indicator of how well your system coped with the carb/glucose intake in a meal.

Having been part of the development team for Allied Lyons at their plant in Market Harborough I had access to many herbs and spices and worked on various products, but also showed off something terrible to my fellow technicians making all sorts of baked goods from the basic powders on hand. I kept the remainders of the samples provided rather than dumping them and had quite an extensive store cupboard for years after I moved. I still use a wide variety of additives - it could be part of my successful diet control.

True cinnamon is quite different from the cassia sold as cinnamon in supermarkets, but it is easily available , though the amounts on offer can be a bit daunting. I have a kilogram of it in a half dozen sealed jars, all but one in the fridge.
There are jars of coconut oil in the fridge too.
I much prefer to obtain natural substances in as close to their original form as practical - not as extracts or mixtures
