Cinnamon Treatment

Being very chemically sensitive and newly diagnosed with Diabetes 2 , a few years ago, my doctor okayed my trying Cinnamon from a reputable (organic) Vitamin and supplement company along with diet education and glucose monitoring. Very often prescription drugs contain inactive ingredients that may cause inflammation of trying the natural alternatives is often tried, first if possible. I started with 1000 mg capsule. Having a problem with low blood sugar incidents, it was discovered that the 1000 mg was "working too well>' My Endocrinologist had me lower the dosage to 650mg and this has been a successful treatment so far. This supplement is not the Cinnamon one buys in the spice aisle of the grocery store; it is more from the "bark" of the tree and higher concentration? Over the years, if I do have elevated sugar, i do take the 1000mg for a while. Fortunately, I don't have extremely high readings of over 200 except on very rare occasions. a cortisone shot for a knee injury a couple of years go , did spike it, so that's a caution should something like that occur again. The main concern ifs low sugar that has caused faining,, etc down into 20 or 30 levels and have glucose lozenges on hand,, but not skipping lunch helps more. If one has more higher readings, I can't say if this will help as I am not a doctor, but I always get medical approval before taking any vitamin or supplements as , like anything else their could be interactions with other medications or cause medical problems. Many are natural blood thinners, etc. Always ask your health care professional... Now, a question is being raised of Diabetes 3 being a more appropriate diagnosis, so the whole field of medicine is learning about all kinds of diseases and maybe someday all will be cured and even better will be stopped first as we learn how to prevent them Thanks for the opportunity to share. Its been a very successful treatment for me, but a doctor was needed to get the dosage right.

Thanks for sharing your Cinnameon treatment Linda, I'm glad it's working for you. I'm type 2 and have been for 12 years and would be interested in knowing what manufacturer you use and where you buy it if you would be happy to share this too?

I've already discussed taking Cinnamon with my GP so looking to take this a stage further now.

Thanks

Tut, never fail to be gob smacked by people offering to help. And cinnamon has been around as long as we have. And cinnamon is cinnamon.

For advice on cinnamon, see http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=newtip&dbid=31

It points to most cinnamons being good for BG regulation but some less good for blood clotting when bleeding if consumed in large quantities......

The page also has references to publishers of papers on the subject..
