Hi everyone

Do any of you get a wee bit nervous before your clinic appts? I have one on monday and my sugars have been quite difficult to manage due to incorrect basal ( in my opinion!) I'm just not looking forward to feeling judged that Im not looking after myself when Im trying so hard! I honestly feel this last while that Im failing and I am trying so much but it's taking over my life

HI. You shouldn't feel nervous. It's up to the clinic to guide you on your insulin and if your HBa1C shows up too high then it will be up to the nurse/GP to guide you on some changes. If you have followed their guidance you have done nothing wrong. If the appointment isn't that helpful do come back and perhaps we can help a bit based on our own experience without conflicting with the clinic's advice. The clinic should be able to explain the ways to check that your Basal is right and also how to match the Bolus to your meals. I have had two lovely DNs and we just discuss options and share knowledge with a smile.

Hi @Lynz84

TBH I did get nervous when I was younger, but maybe that was because my diabetes control wasn't very good and I wasn't as confident in dealing with people like HCP's.

But far from being judgemental they are there to help & support you so don't worry too much about your appointment on Monday, just explain to them about your basal issues (and any other problems) and hopefully they'll help you find a solution. Good luck.
