Hi, I’m usually seen at the diabetic clinic at my local hospital but the last time I was there was December 2019 my hba1c was 75. My next appt was cancelled due to covid. In Jan/Feb this year I saw the diabetic nurse at my gp clinic and my hba1c was 72 so we went over medication, lantus dosing times and the issues I have with savoury food. She asked me to do some readings at certain times of the day and she would ring in a few weeks, which she did but was unsure of changing medication or adding in different medication at my last hospital appt the consultant said there was another tablet I could take, he didn’t name it. I requested an hba1c from my gp as I need to have surgery on an ingrowing toenail and they like it to be 64 or below. My result came back at 99. The gp has requested a review with the diabetic nurse but I’m not sure how she can help me with medication now if she couldn’t help me before, I would much prefer to be seen back at my local hospital clinic but that’s not an option. I’m just wondering if anyone has been in this position before and what the outcome was for you. I don’t really trust a nurse from the gp surgery.
