Clothes sizes

Well I guess I must be facing the same problem as many women as I am gradually becoming a more normal clothes size. Although for the life of me, I can't figure out what size to buy. Bought 2 maxi dresses at the end of April from H&M. Both size 16. Both quite floaty. One got loads of material bordering on quite big, the other one doesn't fit at all yet should be the loosest fit. Both boobs popping out. Not a good look. Waited 3 weeks for poor fitting dress. Came today. It might fit by the time I've lost a stone! If I'm lucky. I have 2 dresses from asda. One a 16 one an 18 in stretchy materially - both maxi. One size 16 maxi from sainsburys. I am now confused. Hoping to get into sundress by July but who knows. Why is there such a discrepancy between the shops! I've also got 2 size 22 dresses which fit. Lol!
 
i went bit crazy when i could actually buy clothes in the high street, i walked round shops buying anything because i could, rather than the one or 2 shops that had one or two things that sold xxxxl (and this from a shopperphobic)
 
I feel your pain Chick. I've come to the conclusion that atm I'm a perfect size 13 lol. 14 jeans fall off my waist & I'm constantly hitching them up & 12's are a tad tight on my legs still. (Always carried extra weight on legs:( & waist has always been out of proportion smaller:)) At least I now only only have 12's & 14's in wardrobe. YAY
But you will get there huni & next summer~super skinny :)

Well the scales now only say one at a time please instead of no coach parties please. Wish I could shift it quicker!

I would like a size 11 ( I'm between a 10 and 12) I'm sure I can remember Richards Shops ( a few years) having this size. I have a light weight jacket from British home stores, it's a size 8 and I am definitely not a size 8.. I wore a M & S summer dress on Monday, size 12.
Good luck for July I'm sure you will look lovely in the dresses, what ever the size :-D

My hubbie and I have a theory. Some brands want their clothes worn by thinner people so their clothes are smaller. Some shops want you to think you're a smaller size. Somewhere in the middle lies the truth.
 
It isn't just the differences between different shops, it happens in the same shop. Marks & Spencer is really bad for inconsistent sizing, and not just sizes but also leg lengths in jeans and trousers. Much seems to depend on the country they were made in. Makes me very annoyed when I have to keep sending stuff back, but I was quite pleased recently when I found an unworn pair of jeans in my wardrobe that had been there 12 months. Unworn because they were too small but I couldn't be bothered to return them. They now fit beautifully!!

I think you're spot on Scandi. Superdry, Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch are notorious for it.
 
Well done for loosing .having same probs but I dont care lol I can buy of the rail :)
 
If my mum keeps herself alive for another year I will fit into the black skirt I got for my dad´s funeral in 1985 when her funeral is due.

I'm not sure she agrees. She is 93 and frail and has recently been diagnosed with another lung disease I have forgotten the name of. A year will do at the out most for her.

Yes! I am the lightest I've been in 10 years and it does feel great to get into old clothes. When I was in my early 20s I was a size 12. Several stones to go!

Its crazy the difference in sizes. I'm in between sizes now. Was a size 18 last year now 12-14. I love Tesco clothes now all there size 12's fit :) I wish the labels were on the outside so everyone can see haha. I haven't been a size 12 for 30 years (before I had my first born)
