Coca cola new beauty drink....

Coca Cola....blah....I blame them for my diabetes in the first place...So wouldnt trust anything they claim to "help you lose weight".....Was addicted to their soft drink product for over 20 years, hence why I'm now a diabetic for life.... Ate badly ( 1 meal a day) as I actually preferred just to drink cola instead....And now i pay the ultimate price with my health :(

Keep in mind that Coca Cola Company is absolutely massive and they do everything from sports drinks, ice tea and fruit juice to plain bottled (tap) water. It doesn't surprise me that they want a slice of the "health" market after the probiotic boom has demonstrated that customers are quite willing to pay.

Wonder how they will get round the health claims legislation.
By not making health claims - give a hundred women free stuff, and then put the fact that 95% of them liked it and thought it made them look better on your ads. Pretty much what the cosmetics industry is doing already.

Of course they'll want a slice of the 'health' market. Isn't that what happens - first create the problem, then create the solution - easy peasy money in the pocket.

Or am I just a cynical old b***ch? Don't answer that!

Please do not shoot me - I'm nice really.

BUT- (you knew that was coming didn't you?) can we honestly say that we didn't know that Coke (the drink..ahem) is not good for us to be drinking a lot of? I know it has all the advertising blah blah but we are capable of deciding what we eat and drink and no, I am not saying we are to blame for our diabetes, but where can we draw the line?

Bread, advertised as being the staff of life, good for us, fills us up, healthy wholegrains yadda yadda and it isn't the saintly stuff they claim it is.
But coke, seriously? Isn't that why the diet version has been around for ever, because it is acknowledged and well known that it is not at all good?

They create the problem, I agree Grace but it is down to us whether we participate or not, esepcially in something like this.

Possibly an unpopular view? Just in case... *Angie ducks and runs*

You would really think that would be the case wouldn't you? But just look at all those old films with Bette Davies and Clarke Gable and the like - they all smoked like troopers in their films and the teenagers and adults who admired them followed suit because it LOOKED cool and trendy and a bit daring.

Let's face it, you'd think that the average adult would look at the physical act of cigarette smoking and wonder what possible good could come from sticking a piece of rolled up paper filled with tobacco into their mouth, setting fire to it and inhaling the smoke. I mean even the action of doing it is absolutely ridiculous if you really think about it. You'd think the same thing about snorting cocaine up your nose or guzzling sweets and chocolates.

But the fact is that the majority of adults are just large children really and the danger of the label 'adult' is such that often people equate being 'adult' with being able to do as they please, and they often do just that. We're all susceptible to brainwashing. Manufacturers and advertisers know that only too well and they use it to their advantage. If something is constantly promoted to us as being 'good for us' or even 'a bit naughty' whether by the use of language or visuals, we have a tendency to believe what we see and hear REPEATEDLY even if our own intuition and common sense points to the contrary.

I think manufacturers and advertisers have a duty NOT to EXPLOIT human weakness. After all, customers do not regard themselves as weak whereas that weakness is EXACTLY what the manufacturers and advertisers are exploiting.

As a matter of interest ... have you seen the recent advert for the Red Cross on TV? It blatantly uses a very sinister looking young woman skulking around in the dark, telling us she's the 'next crisis' that will befall you, your child, your mother etc. It's the most disgustingly fear provoking and emotionally blackmailing advert I've seen yet. Don't tell me a lot of expert psychology didn't go into the production of that advert. Yes, I said no to that advert, to the extent of writing to the Red Cross to complain about it, but I shouldn't have to be subjected to it in the first place.
