Hey guys I've been looking for a drink post workout for electrolytes.

I saw Coconut water was great for this and prefer it to the other options which contained ingredients that could damage enamel/teeth etc.

However looking at the nutrition it stated.

100 ml contains

0% fat
4.5g carbs of which 4g are sugar.
0g protein
and then all the nice electrolyte stuff like potassium etc...

The carton is 500ml.

So that would be 5 x 4.5g per drink and its ingredients contain just coconut water so im guessing its natural sugar.

Is this a no/no ?

It would be for many people on here, but there's only one way to tell whether it is for you. Do a blood test before and 2 hours after and see whether it spikes you....

Good luck.

I agree- really the best tool for making decisions is to test. I normally test something a few times if the first result is good. Bad results are one and done. So much depends on the person and what your body can tolerate.

@fendertele if you’re up for making your own, I use this powder - just minerals no ‘nasties’: https://www.bulk.com/uk/electrolyte-powder.html

In the absence of that, I make my own custom drink which is a large (pint) glass of iced water with the juice of half a fresh lime squeezed in plus a pinch of pink salt. It’s delicious / refreshing and I drink it regularly not just after exercise.

Test it, I love coconut water fresh from the coconut. I drink it every chance I get

Hi everyone thanks for the replies.

I haven't been testing as Doctor was just wanting to test me every 3 months.

I was diagnosed type 2 in January/Feb and with most recent blood test they told me I was back to normal level with my diet and should continue doing what i've been doing I believe I was in the 50s and now at 38.

They were concerned about overall cholesterol as it was raised but will retest every few weeks to see if it levels out as I had been told on here that cholesterol will raise then lower when switching to LCHF diet ?

So I'm really happy with my results so far if not a little bored with the foods lol!

My main issue was i've just started back at the gym after lockdown and was wondering how to resolve two things.

The Electrolyte issue but that bulk powder will be the one for me i think and cortisol control with very little carbs.

That Bulk powder is exactly what im looking for an very cheap! just need it for after workouts as I'm LCHF and tbh i've not even been salting so possibly may have a glass a day to just to keep balance if thats okay ?

Sounds good to me.
