I have been reading on some posts that coffee can slow down weight loss.
Can someone verify if this is a fact as I drink around 4 mugs per day, do I need to cut down on it ?

I was a heavy coffee drinker, then switched to black tea, and around 2-3 liters of water a day. Yesterday I had a black coffee, and I had been retaining water, after the coffee I wasn't any more.

I honestly can't see four cups of coffee stalling weight loss, unless you have it with a ton of sugar, cream or milk, even then loads of milk and cream shouldn't stall. I do know a lot of dairy can stall, but that tends to be among the diabete's mice, who eat loads of cheese.

Timps - drink coffee black or with cream and you'll be fine.

Lattes and Mochas and Cappuccinos and the like are all pretty dodgy with far too much milk. All coffee shops will do you an Americano with cream and that shouldn't have an effect on blood sugars. I seem to remember Atkins saying don't drink coffee during induction but I never bothered with that when I was doing it.

And I think several low carbers add a spoonful of virgin coconut oil to it as well...

That's because tea and coffee contain caffeine and caffeine acts as a diuretic in the body.

Not bad with a Knob of REAL Butter either!! I do that if I don't fancy breakfast or I'm in a rush.
