Coffee and Canderel

Hi, can anyone tell me if canderel sweetner affects BS. When I wake up my BS is usually between 5-7. I have a cup of coffee with two sweetners and after an hour or so my BS goes up to 14. Do you think it could be related to the coffee and sweetner? I also have 8units of levemir but no novorapid as I don't eat breakfast. :?

Canderel granular contains maltodextrin, which apparently is a carbohydrate.

Canderel tablets contain a small amount of lactose(the sugar found in milk).

Also, the caffeine in your coffee makes your insulin less effective and
will also cause your body to release adrenaline(like when you go hypo)

Thanks for the reply. I've now swapped the morning coffee for green tea, don't know how long it will last!
