I'd like to think it does, because I like it so much!! and it is a good aid to intermittent fasting for me (might be different for others). I've been experimenting between decaff and full caffeine coffee, and seen no change in my BG or BP but definitely real coffee is better for hunger suppression. So when I've used up the last of my decaff, I'll stick with the other sort.
Regarding "science", opinions swing between it's beneficial to it's poison, often in the same publication! I choose therefore to believe what suits me, bearing in mind that research has to be financed by some organisation or other, and results are therefore skewed to benefit the paymaster.
