Coffee

It can in some people yes but it is short term. It's nothing to do with carbohydrates but caffeine can affect your metabolism. In the case of diabetics, it can lower your insulin sensitivity. But, the effect usually passes as your metabolism adjusts. It is probably because you are not used to drinking coffee. Most people who don't drink coffee often find that they need to urinate more frequently when they do. The diuretic effect however is not noticed by regular coffee drinkers and so it may be similar with diabetics who are only occasional coffee drinkers. Research however is on going.

When it does affect people, it is in the system for 2 to 3 hours so, if you get a rise in BG levels, you should be back in your usual metabolic rhythm afterwards. It shouldn't affect your fasting BG levels.

However, be careful what you have with your coffee.

f coffee, I actually find caffeine lowers my bloods, I know nothing of the science behind it, just my experience.many coffees contain natural sugars, however it seems to be in negligible amounts, again in personal experience (Excluding any sugar/milk you add)

Yes. Milk has carbs that will raise your bgl. Milk also has lactose, which is a natural sugar. Many here use double (heavy) cream or coconut oil or even butter instead of milk since these lower both carb and lactose intake. Latte cafe is well known for spiking bgl, so maybe downgrade to standard Americano

It raises me in the morning but not in the afternoon. I drink it black. I'm sure in the morning it over reactive with the natural cortisol adrenaline rise.
