hi , just looking for a bit of advice or help really, recently the tops of my fee and ankles have felt really cold. even when the heatings on full blast :eh:

any one suffer from this or know what it may be if it is anything ?

thanks

Hi Superellite.
It can be your circulation and blood flow to your lower limbs and feet
are changing.
This can happen with diabetes and we can get very cold hands and feet.
Try keeping your feet as warm amd cosy as you can.
Never be tempted to plonk your feet on a radiator or TOO near direct heating.
Have you considered wearing thermal diabetic friendly socks?
These are great to keep the feet/ankles cosy and warm!
Also if - you have any neuropathy damage, this can make the temperature of the feet
go a bit erratic - feet get painfully hot then numbing cold etc.
Have you had a feet diabetic care check done at your diabetic clinic yet?
You are entitled to one of these...
Usually your GP/healthcare team will refer you for one of these after diagnosis.
Hope this helps.
Anna.

Type 2 here for the past 2 years & each year when it comes round to winter time ive been the same having very cold feet & hands even with heating fully on, plus this year they feel to be sweating but at the same time they are so cold.

i wear thermal socks on top of my normal socks that ive bought from the sport shop to try keep them warm, its the first ive heard about thermal diabetic friendly socks so what is the difference from normal thermal socks from the sport shop apart from them being twice the price.?

i hope im not doing more harm than good with wearing them..

thanks.

Hi BaRoN30s.
The diabetic friendly socks are ribbed/ridge elasticated "free" around the ankles.
Usually quite stretchy and non-restrictive around the foot, and there are seamfree
ones too available.
These prevent any rubbing or chaffing on the skin, preventing any skin breakages.
There are also variable thermal gradings and rating with some brands of socks.
They can and do vary in price depending on these too.
Hope this helps.
Anna.

Are you taking beta blockers or any vasoconstrictor meds?

Very likely given your description to be caused by reduced circulation. The Liqua Care insoles on the shop here are interesting - they have had clinical trials prove that they increase the circulation in the feet and I have read testimonials somewhere from people who said their feet were warm again for the first time in years.
