Does cold weather increase BG levels. I haven't eaten anything different but my levels have gone up a point, usually 4 but I am constantly feeling rather cold and my levels have gone up to 5 or even 6.0.

Hi @carol43 , I'm not T2 so I don't know if it would be different, but I find over the winter months I consistently run a bit higher and need more background insulin.

Blood vessels; expand in the heat and your metabolism is better then. Blood pressure too is better when it's warmer. Add to this in winter you are more susceptible to colds and other infections. Yes my levels have been higher.

My GP once said that he wanted me to return in the winter to see if I needed a change in my medication. I just took it to mean that I wasn't so active in the winter and maybe that's why the sugar levels go up.

I really hate stuffy central heating. As Type 2, for me hot baths are the way to go!

I would be quite happy in those temps!
47 years ago on the 18th of February we left Southampton for Australia, it was a filthy rotten day as it had been since December.

It was a real treat when we got to the Canary Islands several days later, nice and warm there.

Sod the cold. :meh:

Edit: extra info.
