Hi Everyone,

Happy new year to one & all.

I had both my flu jabs in November but have gone down with a nasty little virus which seems much like Flu to me.

That's not my point really, what I would like to know is whether this virus would have any effect on my BG levels.

I hav'nt eaten much for the past 2 days but have continued with Gliclizide & Metformin and suprisingly to me my BG is consistently between 11 & 12.

Can anyone explain what might be happening here?

YES. Your Bg levels will no doubt have risen due to the virus/infection.

It will also probably rise due to the fact that you are not eating much, hence your liver will dump glucose to boost your energy levels. An automatic reaction.

Have you beeen drinking plenty of fluids, water ? That all helps to lower levels down again.
 
just as cugila says,
most of us do get higher bloods when ill unfortunately,
hope u soon feel better soon :D
