My dad was diagnosed this year and is struggling to control hisblood sugar levels, they keep reading high. Today he collapsed and couldn't get up he says for a few minutes and has felt weird all day, For him to tell me this he mjst feel bad as he is reluctant to admit he is having trouble! His reading was 14. he has admitted to not taking his medication properly. Should I be really worried?

I would be worried, I was a ****** with my medication, been type 2 diabetic since 2001-2, and have gone months maybe even years without taking my medication, January 31 just gone I had heart attack, now I am not saying this WILL happen to your dad, but not taking medication when you are diabetic is not the best thing to do!

He doesn't take his medication as its giving him really painful indigestion, I can tell now when he's not doing it properly as he becomes really argumentative and at 69 years old he won't listen as he thinks he knows best. Very worrying!

Hi. Two things. First, a reading of 14 isn't that bad and wouldn't normally result in hyperglycaemic symptoms other than sugar in the urine, so the collapse is probably not directly related to the diabetes but, of course, may be indirectly? Secondly, what medication is your Dad on?

Hi after reading some posts on here 14 does seem low compared to others but he reaches that level and his symptoms seem quite bad. He is taking tablets but no idea what. He also has a really achey left arm which I've noticed other people have mentioned they have?
