Hi, I've got a colonoscopy in a few weeks' time. Three days before, you need to go on a low fibre diet. You're allowed bread, rice and pasta but only if it's white. You can't have fruit or veg, nuts or seeds, red meat, yoghurt or any high fibre food.
If I were well, I might take the chance to do some fasting, but I'm recovering from a bad case of pneumonia.amd have low iron and B12 and I'm totally exhausted!
I've been eating a fairly low-carb diet (max 75g carb and often around 50g) which relies a lot on fish and meat of all kinds as well as non-starchy veg, some berries, greek yoghurt, and moderate amounts of nuts and seeds.
My HBA1c was 42 when I found out I was prediabetic about 4 weeks ago.
My question is, for the two days I'm not allowed high fibre food (no food on day of procedure) what is the safest thing to do in terms of my recovery from pneumonia and eating enough?
1) eat only low fibre foods (milk, cheese, egg, tofu, white meat, poached fish and other low fibre food - ideas welcomed!
2) eat above, but include some white rice or boiled potatoes and maybe some white bread and butter?
