Hi
I'm having a combined colonoscopy and endoscopy this week. I'm really nervous about the prep and blood sugar issues. I'm on a pump. The surgeon suggested I admit the night before for the prep but I have opted to stay at home and admit morning of procedure. Any advice or experiences from people who have had a colonoscopy with type 1.

I've had loads. Whilst I wouldn't hand over control to the hospital who tend to use a system called 'slidind scale' which dates from pre-historic times I reckon, they do understand. I was told I could have small amounts of lemonade prior to the endoscopies, and at one I was given a gel after they tested and I was a bit low,

There's normally a contact on the appointment letter to call if you're diabetic. I've found them understanding.

Good luck.

Hi @Sharrryn Don't worry. I'm T1 not on a pump and had a colonoscopy before diagnosis and also after. I don't think I'd want to go in the night before for the prep. Better to be at home near your own loo. I followed the instructions about food/drink before and everything was fine. I'd also got some carbs ready for afterwards too.
My hospital arranges for diabetics to have early morning appointments. Good luck.
