Comedians

There are two, totally different, and the only ones that could make me laugh until I cried (obviously there may be more that I haven't heard). I use the past tense because I have not heard their modern work. They are Billy Connelly and John Cleese.

Billy Connolly was definitely my fauvorite.Coming from a humble background. His mother left when he was about 5
His father and an aunt abused him. Yet he was able to rise above it all and in my mind the greatest comedian ever.

I've been reading about the Marx Brothers again. Wish I could see some of their movies again. But these books are making me laugh too.

And John Cleese. Yes, definitely John Cleese!

I find most modern comedians totally unfunny because they don't challenge the dominant narrative any more. They just have the same views as pop stars and journalists.

A "normal" comedian I find funny is Matt Forde because he's so good at impressions and is not smug like many of his fellow panel-show comedians. Jason Manford is okay on this Absolute Radio show.

Outside of the mainstream it's Tim Dillon, who I would say is the best contemporary comedian in the world.

Baddiel and Skinner together for me pure gold. Rowan Atkinson, John Cleese, Dudley Moore, Gene Wilder, Dave Allen for the sheer devilment and my mum was disgusted. Jennifer Saunders, Rick Mayall and many, many more cannot narrow it down to just one - far too many!

That's it really i sent it. Down to own choice in the end. But whatever makes us laugh worth watching.Definitely worth watching. Been watching some Only fools and Horses. They were good as well.Especially Trigger.

I agree with this but none of these people are contemporary and some aren't even alive. This probably indicates that we are starved of actual funny comedians today.

New one on the list for me now. Paul O'Grady. Really liked him and his down to earth humour.,Especially as Lily Savage.
Told it as it was.
