Just came across this new insulin pen when searching for new/future diabetic tech: http://www.companion-medical.com/products.html http://www.healthline.com/diabetesmine/companions-new-smart-insulin-pen-will-mimic-pump#5 It seems like a pretty cool device, with it's Bluetooth facility it can be connected to a smartphone app which will record any doses that have been taken. I think the possibilities for this type of pen are promising. For those (and we've all done it) who have taken a dose and forgotten if they have or not, would be able to eliminate that doubt. The Echo pen is currently available for issues such as this, but from what I can see, this pen goes over and beyond what an Echo pen can offer. Another good feature is the pen's ability to monitor insulin temperature. This is an absolute must for those in hot, and equally cold climates. Even in the UK, most of us have at some point questioned the ambient temperatures going too high or low to warrant our insulin retaining it's efficiency. Further, a lot of us have changed cartridges when questioning whether the potency has been depleted due to adverse external temperatures. Interconnection to other apps with this pen would also be an excellent opportunity for diabetics. To interface this with such an app as LibreLink would be very useful. The pen has a facility for "optimal insulin dosing", combined with the BG reading from LibreLink, your I:C ratio and average target BG - the pen could assist with correction dose calculations. Whether the logistics of any of the above would be possible or not, I don't know. Anyways, I still thought this was pretty cool:) Grant
