When you see the nurse and if you are quite slim and she isn't sure of the diagnosis then do ask for the T1 tests if they aren't offered. The diet approach for either can be roughly the same. Although T1s can use insulin to match the carbs but many like me need to keep the carbs down anyway to avoid weight gain.
