What type of complications and what's your HbA1c results like ?
Personally I had background retinopathy which was a few years after diagnosis and once i'd stabilised my blood glucose levels the following year the result came back as normal, @noblehead may be able to help you with your question.

As asked above what complications and how long have you been type 1?
I have had some complications but have been at it for 43 years.
I work and drive and have adapted accordingly and I only point this out as your question is a bit vague.
