Morning! (in New Zealand anyway)

Was wondering if i could still get diabetes complications with being Prediabetic?

My doctor said i wont, and my numbers are good (im guessing as i dont test anymore, but eat low gi etc) reason im asking is i have a small numb spot on my big toe, no tingling etc, its just numb.

Thanks!

I wouldn't like to disagree with your doctor but I am in the pre diabetic area and I get numb spots. Knees and little finger are my most noticeable. A cockerel once pecked a lump out of my little finger and I didn't notice until I thought it was itching but blood was running down my hand by then.

Of course the two things could be unrelated if your doctor is right but it is a bit of a coincidence.

I am prediabetic and have neuropathy in the balls of both feet, so yes it is absolutely possible.

You're pretty low carb, aren't you ? Have you noticed any improvement in the neuropathy ? The reason I ask is because earlier this year I noticed distinct numbness in the ball of my right foot and along the outer edge of my big toe. But now it doesn't feel so numb ? Is this possible/likely ? I'm also prediabetic and not on any medication, I'm just trying to follow a LCHF regime and doing a bit of fasting. Lost 15 kilos since June this year and feel better for it.

Sorry for late reply, I'm not very low carb, probably around 100g a day which is the best I can seem to maintain. My blood sugar is pretty stable but has not improved much, I'm just trying to keep it where it is.
My neuropathy is on the balls of my feet. Specialists think it is related to having higher than normal blood sugar for a long time.
R-alpha lipoic acid and a few other Vit Supplements have helped to a degree.

I would encourage you to if possible go lower with your carbs, it could change everything. I had eye and nerve issues on diagnosis and with normal blood sugars both have resolved 100%.

Based on information on the web, we need carbs yet we should stay away from carbs. I've been researching meal ideas, and some recipes include having whole grain muffin and or whole wheat English muffin. At times it's very confusing what is ok to and what isn't

You worried me there before I read "of both feet" !!

The tingling in my toes of my right foot is now hardly ever noticable but it has taken nearly 2 years of low carb.
