type 2 in USA on 500 mg metformin and 1.0 Ozempic I am trying an otc CGM by dexcom called stelo, my readings are averaging 140 mg/ dl or 7.8 mmol/L my last A1C was 6.5% which was increase , so my dr added the Ozempic and I can’t tolerate more metformin.

I went to a diabetes health fair and the drs were saying that is not bad, but it seems to be progressing.

I did a keto diet program called Virta and had normal 4.8% A1C but it ended and I can’t seem to get back to that on my own.

I get blood work twice a year and eye exams.i need glasses but no eye issues. I am 60yo had gestational diabetes dx type 2 in 40s. Family history both sides.

The range on CGM is 70-180. That is where they want you to be. It will show if you go out of range.

When do you start seeing damage/conplications?

Hi

As I read it, blood sugars 101 by Jenny ruhl
Suggest a sustained level above 8 is the bar to be under .

I had damage from high blood glucose beginning with an HbA1c of 43/44 - started with oedema and kidney malfunction followed by weight gain and neuropathy etc. Other people have much higher HbA1cs and no complications. It's not straightforward.

Just about everything went within a few months once I'd got my BG back to nomal levels via 20g/day, apart from some minor stuff that (after nearly five years) seems likely to be permanent damage.
