People. Noise. Swearing. Many foods.
Virtually the only advice I got on diagnosis was to stop eating grapes (unfortunately my favourite fruit by far) and I’ve had a lot of conflicting advice since then.

I’ve been told Apples are okay (which I loathe) but to avoid Bananas. I’ve been told Raspberries and Strawberries are okay but Pineapples aren’t (if that’s true then it’s okay as I loathe Pineapple as well) but it seems every book or video tells me something different.

So, I love strawberries and raspberries. I love cherries (when I can afford them). Bananas are okay. I love Peaches, Nectarines and Plums although I rarely eat those. I can’t eat Kiwi Fruit or Melon and Tomatoes I will eat in salads.

I’m Autistic so a lot of my dislikes are down to taste, texture and real sensory issues surrounding the fruit in question but I would really appreciate some input on what Type 2 me, can eat.

Thank you.

Hi Patrick,

Basically, which fruits are okay comes down to their carb content. Carbs translate straight to a rise in bloodglucose, so the less you have of it, the better. Berries, avocado's, tomatoes, starfruit are fine... Berries in moderation. (Strawberries, blackberries, etc etc). This might help: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/fruits It's a visual guide with the amount of carbs per 100 grams of said fruit. Where an apple would be something like 15 grams of carbs, which is a bit much, 100 grams of strawberries would only amount to 6. And you could slow down the carb uptake by adding something fatty, like full fat greek yoghurt or cream.

Hope that helps!
Jo
