Confused by my doctor .

My doctor says I am type 2 but I take insulin nov mix30 .Every thing I have read suggests I am type1 .can any one help as I am confused .
 
Yes, we need to know more. Are you normal or overweight? How long have you had 'T2'? If you are not and have never been noticeably overweight then a diagnosis of late onset T1 is more likely but there are many factors that affect the diagnosis and there are two tests that can help confirm T1. I'm also classed as a T2 but actually a LADA and on insulin.

I m over weight and I have been T2 for 24 years ..thank you for your comment ..
 
If you've been managing your diabetes with medication, diet and exercise for as long as 24 years before needing insulin, it's extremely unlikely that you are type 1 instead of type 2. The vast majority of people who need insulin are type 2, as although everyone with type 1 needs insulin, only about 10% of people with diabetes in UK are type 1, compared with 90% with type 2. Obviously, that's simplifying, as there are also LADA, MODY, gestational diabetes etc.
