I have purchased a new blood glucose monitor - Nexus Gluco RX, there are 3 different settings on it depending on whether it's a general test (anytime of day regardless of food), a fasting test (no food for 8 hours) or a test 2 hours after food. 2 hours after eating I done a test, first on the general setting which gave a result of 16.2 and then tested straight after on the setting 2 hours after food which gave a result of 14.2 can somebody please explain to me how the machine works this out.
Thank you in advance.

I also have a Nexus meter which was given to me. The three buttons are a facility to tag your results. You are effectively marking the results as either General (not specified); Before Food and after food. This way, when you look at the memory you can see if the reading was general, before food or after food. You can also look at your 7;14;21;28;60 and 90 day averages for each specific setting/tagging (ie General, before food or after food.) The machine cannot work out which setting just from your results. The slight variation in the result is normal and acceptable. I have found the Nexus meter accurate and very easy to use. Hope this helps
