So I rang my diabetic nurse today, because i was due to get GAD results today and they've come back negative!!! she seemed really confused and said she'd speak to the consultant.any1 on here have any infomation on this please I'm really confused.

How very odd. Almost suggests that you may not be T1! There are other types as well though...

It suggests that the next thing you need is a fasting C-Peptide or insulin test to determine the levels of insulin in your system.

ya a little shocked to say the least

Hi. My GAD came back negative but with a very low-c-peptide measure. My test was 8 years after diagnosis and NICE says that the GAD becomes less reliable as the years pass but the c-peptide more reliable. I have a suspicion my LADA may have come about from a virus or mild pancreatittis or similar as I had unresolved elevated white-cell count a year before diagnosis. So, T1 can arise from things beyond GAD or other anti-bodies. The bottom line is that the c-peptide determines whether you need to go onto insulin and are, in effect T1
