What would you of had with steamed cod and veg ? Or would you of just had that ?
Your eating doesn't
have to be Spartan to lower your BG, just kept low in carbs and sugars. Yesterday for lunch, for instance, I'd made a very rich-tasting lamb casserole, with rather a lot of lamb browned in olive oil, casseroled with a veg stock cube, red, yellow and green peppers, red onions, leeks and a fair old dash of red wine + seasoning. I was pretty hungry as I was working out in the garden all day so I allowed myself a small 2nd helping. My main meal now is lunch, so I ate very little afterwards.
Did 6 checks with my meter during the day and found my BG stayed below 6 - with the lowest level of 5.1 in the early evening. I was happy with that.
Today, my level 2 hours after a rather substantial salad and Spanish omelette lunch at the local café was 5.9, which was fractionally lower than it had been late in the morning.
I've only just got back on the waggon after giving in progressively to rice, spuds and bread (it started with the rationale of "oh, OK, just a little then)" which soon escalated. Eating like that, I was routinely seeing 7's 8's and 9's, and it didn't take much of those foods to cause that effect.
