I am diagnosed with T2 a week before. I first bought abbott freestyle optium and I was satisfied with it as I made my blood glucose levels under control (75-180).As the strips were expensive, I bought sd codefree and compared on both. Sd codefree always give higher readings (15-25 points more) as compared to free style. The readings arent consistent either, first I got 136 and then 134 and then 122 and then 130. Kindly help me and share your experiences with it.

Hi @jzaib353 and welcome to the forum.

There has been lots of previous discussion on the forum about the Codefree, with many people finding that it reads higher than some other meters. Of course, there’s no way of knowing whether the higher readings of the Code Free or the lower readings of other meters are more accurate.

If you’re not on medication that reduces BG, then it’s the general trends that are important anyway, along with consistency. All meters have an error range of +/- 15%, so it’s unlikely you’d always get two identical readings even from the same drop of blood.

If you’ve only just begun testing as someone newly diagnosed, it’s also likely that your BG readings will be a little inconsistent anyway.
