Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the time frame to test glucose levels after eating.

I know that ideally it should be tested 2 hours after eating but what if you can't or you forget should we even bother testing? What is the latest gap time to rest, I read somewhere that 5 hours would not provide accurate testing results.

Any help is appreciated.

Happy Friday y'all

It depends why you are testing.
Are you testing to understand your fasting BG (in which case you may want to wait longer than 5 hours after eating) or to understand what impact certain foods are having on your BG (in which case you want to take a reading at around 2 hours).

Depends on what information you want.......

Do you want to see if your dose was timed correctly?

Do you want to make a correction?

You certainly don't need to test at two hours just for the sake of it....

Your quick acting insulin will only last 3- 5 hours....so after this you wouldn't be gathering any information on either your dose or meal...
