All meters have to comply with the same accuracy standards before they can be marketed, and they are allowed to be 15% above or below the true figure. It isn't at all unusual for meters to vary, even when tests are done at the same time from the same drop of blood. Even using the same meter for consecutive tests will reveal a different answer. Not satisfactory but it is all we have, and for type 2s not on insulin, it doesn't matter. We just look for trends, and whether readings staert trending in one direction or another after many tests done in the same circumstances - ie morning fasting, before lunch, before evening meal and bedtime. One off or two off tests mean nothing.
