my levels have been changing quite a bi lately and I'm not too sure why.

Today I had my lunch at 1:30 and injected shortly after.
When I checked my sugars at 4:10pm they were 5.7, I decided to check again before I drove home just after 5pm and they were 9.8. I didn't have anything that would affect my sugars in the meantime.

Any idea why his could happen?

Also, how well does the libre cope with sport? What is the delay on the your true level?

@L3wisr you'd need to provide a lot more information. Your post suggests hat you did some form of sport at some point in there. You also don't say how you checked - Libre or blood test?

With the limited information provided, it would suggest that one of those readings was incorrect, but without corroboration, it is impossible to say which.

As an aside, the Libre level is roughly ten mins behind the real one.

Sorry. The libre question is completely separate.

I was just sat in work at the time of checking. Normal blood test

Probably best to do a basal test for an afternoon... It may well be that the background insulin is too little....

Does point to your basal insulin as DD says @L3wisr, but don't change anything from one days readings, see if the same happens tomorrow and if it does then consider a basal check or increase your basal dose.

Only thought I had was if it was a high fat/high carb lunch? That could have caused the late onset rise.

It was just a normal lunch which was confusing me.

Is the basal test just not having any breakfast and monitoring the change in levels?

When you tested at 4.10pm, your lunch probably wasn't fully digested yet, hence the increase after 5pm. Maybe you would want to check 4-5 hours after your meal instead. If you're using novorapid, it works for 4-5 hours as well so checking your BG 3 hours after your meals might not reflect the 'final BG'? Just an opinion!

The ideal of basal testing is not to have any food or insulin in you.

So for testing in the morning you would skip breakfast and not eat for 5 hours afjter your normal breakfast time bolus.

To test afternoon you would have your breakfast and insulin as normal. Then nit eat for 10 hours. (5 hours for the food n insulin bolus to be out of you). Yhen test hourly for 5 hours. Then eat and bolus as normal.

For evening tesing you would have a lunch and bolus as normal. Then not eat evening meal. You should again be 10 hours clear of all food and bolus's. Test hourly from hour 5-10.

Night time testing. Have an early tea. Then not eat until morning. Testing hourly during the night if you can, but if not definitely two hourly.

Exceptions:
If low you must abandon the basal testing and treat and for go the testing.

If high. You can still do it but be aware that it could be a waste of time if your high is due to being ill etc. personally I still test but I will do a correction bolus and not eat anything for 10hours to watch if my bloods come down to normal target within 5 hours.

Personally I also carry on drinking coffees or teas. This is only because I go days when I don't eat but still have coffees/teas and I want to know that my basal is correct if I skip or delay meals and survive on drinks only. Many people will only drink water whilst basal testing.

Hope this makes sense and I haven't missed anything....
