My blood sugar is higher after 12 hours of fasting than it is 2 hours after eating a meal. How is this possible? I find this rather strange and don't understand why this is happening. If anyone can provide any explanations or advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Your liver can store glucose. It can also 'dump' it when the brain tells it you need energy. This is quite common when you wake up and is sometimes referred to as the 'dawn phenomenon'. I don't know what time of day you are measuring your BG but if you are talking about first thing in the morning then I would imagine that this is the most likely scenario.

A liver dump at any time of the day, is your body's way of making up for not getting enough glucose, through eating etc.
