Hi Forum People,

At this moment in time im pretty confused with work, eating and controlling my diabetes.

Last year i lost a lot of weight and felt great, it seems i have put it back on due to eating stupidly and not being able to control my eating habits, i just get so so so hunger.

The problem at the moment it i have had some issues and being stupid i stopped taking my medication etc for a month, now the symptoms of my diabetes have come back with a vengeance - Blurry eye sight, dizzyness, night pee's, tiredness, want to eat anything the usual stuff.

I have started taking my medication again - two shots of insulin a day and 3 metformin 500mg a day - its come down from the 30's to just over 10, but i want to be able to control my eating habits as well.

So i have started eating tinned mackerel in tomato sauce and a couple of bags of toms for my breakfast, for dinner i shall have some chicken thighs and some more cherry toms and maybe a bag of carrot sticks to much on.

What i need is some sort of diet plan to actually look at and say i can have that and then this will help me stick to it , can anybody point me in the right direction - i have done the paleo diet in the past and felt great - but i just cant seem to get the actions into my thick skull at the moment - Nobody seems to understand how dam confusing things are when your Sugars are up.

I know im foolish but im trying to make a start and correct my activity's just need some pointers.

Thank you Kind People.

Much Love - Stuie The Pooie

Not only are you not foolish @stuiepooie you're pretty smart. You've come on here and asked for help from people who know exactly where you are coming from. There are lots of good ideas on the low carb forums, you will surely get a diet plan to suit you from there and you can ask questions and get answers from people in the same position as yourself. You've already made a great start. Well done you

So perhaps you've been foolish, we all have those moments ;) The great thing is you now realise that its time to put away the foolishness and get cracking on getting things sorted. As for pointing you in the direction of a food plan or diet, I'm not in a position to advise anyone on what they should eat. The advise that I have gotten is to eat to my meter. Which I am beginning to get the hang of (I think) but its early days. Not only am I wanting to reduce my HbA1c readings and get in control of my T2, I am also trying to lose weight, so for me its a combination of portion, calorie and carb control. I am using My Fitness Pal app as my food diary, and I am using my meter to watch my spikes, After that its not giving into the hunger, drinking more water, eating heaps of green veg and training myself to have a certain amount of self-control. Coz at the end of the day, regardless of how I ended up with diabetes, I am the only one who can make the changes.

I wish you all the very best. :) You are defo in the right place for support and encouragement. :joyful: I'd be lost now without the forum.

The 1st thing you need to do is set your mind to it because it just isn't going to happen in it's own but sounds like you're getting there.
I do a LC Paleo. Meat, poultry, fish and eggs, green (above ground) veg and healthy fats such as EVOO, avocado, nuts/seeds and olives and mayo. That's about it. Don't focus on what you can't have but look for things you like that you can have. I don't/can't do dairy but oh well...
It doesn't have to be complicated. Pick a protein to eat in moderate amounts, pick a veggies and then have some healthy fat with it. Done.
If you have done Paleo and did well with it I imagine you will again. It just takes a few days to 'break' the habits

Yes I did for a number of years before I was diagnosed as diabetic and started eating a low carb diet. My doctor had just fobbed me off with it being "due to my weight". I felt like a complete brain dead zombie and couldn't think straight, and was so tired I spent most of my time sleeping... I eventually decided it must just be one of those things that happened with old age and so assumed I'd have to live with it. But as I said cutting down drastically on carbs certainly sorted me out, and I'm clear headed most of the time now and generally only need a nap if I scoff a few too many carbs at lunch time. I think if you do some further reading round the forum, you'll find that a lot of other people have found reducing carbs has cleared their brain fog too.
