Connecting dexcom to xdrip+

I have a Samsung s9 phone and downloaded the dexcom g6 app which paired with my dexcom no problems. Now I've downloaded the latest version of the xdrip and gone through all the processes of trying to connect my dexcom and it's just not working. Is this because I've already paired the sensor with the dexcom app. Would I now have to stop the sensor on the dexcom app, delete the app and start again with the xdrip? Any help would be appreciated as it's driving me insane lol.
 
I've tried deleting the app then redownloading this morning. I waited over night to see if it was just taking awhile to connect but nothing worked. I will try the delete and re add again though
