I have been struggling with my diabetes and am considering insulin as a means of coping with my blood glucose. I am following a LCHF diet and have reduced the spikes after meals and by the evening my BG is within a healthy range. However, when I fast, particularly overnight, the BG rockets. So I have 2 questions initially:
1. Will I be able to stay on a LCHF diet as I don't want to experience hypos?
2. Is a long lasting basal insulin the way to go if my biggest problem is my fasting BG?

TIA

You will be able to stay on the LCHF yes............depends on the insulin you go on whether or not the risk of hypos goes up......

I would say trying out a basal first would be better and yeah, having the higher morning readings would be suited to a basal...

Thank you. I spoke to the GP today and he has offered me another tablet first which I agreed to but he will get the diabetic nurse to review when she is back from her holiday.
