Just had my yearly hospital appointment thingymabob! They are very pleased with me and was a fairly short appointment for once! Cholesterol is still high but has gone from 6.0 to 5.1 and they said it should come down with my hba1c so all is looking good!! So just thought I would let everyone know ha! So kind of a pointless post really!

Far from pointless Nicola.

Well done on your improvements. You sound very positive.:)

Like, like, like Nicola... Now you can ask if anyone else been having E57 error messages!! I'm sure mine were E57 when pump died and swapped!!!

Loving life

Not pointless, always good to share the good things. The cholesterol thing is a minefield, there's just so much out there saying one thing or another. The graph I like is produced by the British Heart Foundation who say that their is a weak correlation between cholesterol levels and CardioVascular Disease.
The graph shows that over 5.4 there is an increase in CVD and strangely below 5.4 there is an increase in CVD, so on their reckoning 5.1 is pretty **** good. Obviously I'm not a medic and one has to listen to one's medical advisers, doesn't one? LOL Shame they don't all sing from the same song book.
Good results, keep up the good work, obviously doing something right.
Cholesterol is dotted red line with comment about weak correlation.

Cool chart!

Great info, but I suppose the weak (ish) link is the 'age standardised' bit.

But, I repeat, cool chart!

And it gives a lovely, sane, non OCD, simple figure to aim for, since I think preoccupation with cholesterol levels is likely to be with us for a very long time...

Well they said they want it below 4 or 4??? and that they wont put me on tablets...yet but that it should come down eventually as my hba1c is!! So alls good!!

ps thanks for all the comments guys!! :) xx

Well done Nicola!

I'm sure I've seen that chart before but it's good to see again. My cholesterol came down from 6.9 to 6.0 and GP said well done but he'd really like to see it at 5 - which is exactly where I'd like it. I wouldn't want it below 4. It's how the total is made up that is more important than the total figure.

What is the ideal range for cholesterol??? I never know!

@graj0
can I have a reference to this as the graphic is a bit unclear to store away:):)

Yep, that's the recommendation for diabetics. Not 100% sure of where they get their research that's separated diabetics from non-diabetics but there you go.
Weird lol! But fair enough best get to work haha!
