That does sound disappointing @OrsonKartt . Was your private endo able to prescribe insulin for you or do you have to wait for the NHS to agree that you need it?
Thanks for your thoughts.I’m so sorry. This sounds so incredibly frustrating. I hope that things can get settled…any chance you can see a different specialist?
Hopefully @OrsonKartt you will be able get hold of those antibody results. Two or more types of antibodies is a confirmation of LADA. They cannot argue with that.
I agree @OrsonKartt it shouldn't have to be a battle. It's stressful enough dealing with diabetes. My fingers are crossed for you.
Please ask for a second opinion, you are entitled to that even if it means going back to your original consultant. Or you can find a more sympathetic consultant on the NHS that’s is knowledgeable about LADA. Referral to Kings College Hospital? It’s supposedly a leading centre for adult onset diabetes and suspected LADAThanks for your thoughts.
The more I think about today’s meeting the more I think it was someone pretty much gaslighting me.
The power balance a doctor has is unbalanced with a patient.
I don’t know how this will pan out but I do know I don’t want to be in that situation ever again
I am in a fortunate situation of being able to afford further private consultations and finding a private GP if necessary
It’s more than a bit surprising for me to have to consider this.

Let me know how you get on.
I’ve only been give one pen of Lantus which gives me around 20 days from now to sort this out. Enough time I hope.long acting insulin, toujeo usually its a pack of 3 pens with the units your taking 6 per day should have a further 2 months supply (remember need to discard remainder of each pen after its been out of fridge 4 weeks) that should give you a nice wee window of time to get second opinion. glad your healing better and no longer falling over. good luck
ouch. with single pen prescription humalin i was given a few pens in box, with single fiasp was given several vials in a box (which used with echo6 pen) and toujeo came in box of 3 for me. if on your repeat precsription still could try hit the request to give a little bit more time to hopefully sort out.I’ve only been give one pen of Lantus which gives me around 20 days from now to sort this out. pretty sure lantus is 4 weeks out of the fridge before should discard. so careful with the 20 days (unless pen was opened 8 days ago).
Fingers crossed for you glToday I’ve rung emailed and written to the London consultant I saw. Turns out he has written several books on diabetes so I’ve ordered a couple which have decent reviews
I’ve just had an email back from the London consultant. It’s so reassuring when someone actually responds and in a timely manner !
He suggests contacting my GP and telling them how the insulin has improved my well being and finding out if he is willing to continue prescribing. - this is of course a most sensible thing to do and I’ll get right on it …. Best thoughts all
I truly hope you get some proper and well considered advice. Nothing worse than someone just reading from a script. Thinking of you
glad your review went wellJust Had a telephone medication review.
The scan the endo advised on threw up some other issues which are ongoing and being looked into.
