Can someone guide me please on what's the difference between Contour Next and Contour Plus glucometer. Do they both have the same accuracy? I am asking this because the cost of strips for Contour Next is almost double the Contour Plus. If results are the same then why this difference?

Hi @finsit
You need to take into account compatibility with the glucose meter you're using.

The Contour Next strips are compatible with any Countour meter with 'Next' in the product name. Contour Next ONE, Countour Next USB, Contour Next etc. (and the Contour XT)

The Contour Plus strips are compatible with Contour® Plus Blue and the Contour® Plus. The Contour Plus strips will not work with a Contour Next glucose meter - according to the manufacturer anyway.

Thanks. Ok, so I am weighing my options to buy a Contour glucometer. Because Contour Plus strips are 50% cheaper than Next, i can go ahead and buy Plus monitor. Question is the accuracy of Next vs Plus is there any difference or its just technology?

All glucose monitors on sale in the UK conform to the same ISO 15197:2013 standard for accuracy as a minimum so I wouldnt worry too much about that.

The Contour Next One (which I use) is shaped like a USB stick and I find it a comfortable size to carry around.

The Contour Next has an 800 reading memory. This might be useful if you're a commercial driver and need to show several months of past testing history to DVLA. The manufacturer (Ascensia) claims that it exceeds the requirements of a later standard ISO15197:2015 so if accuracy is major concern for you then take a look at this.

The Contour Plus looks to be accurate to the 2013 standard.

If you have decided to go down the Contour route then I'd suggext taking a good look around their website
