Control solutions

OK, so they come in packs of 2, a high and a low. What difference does it make to the function of the meter with the one you use?

How often do you do it? I have done a control test when I have opened a new drum of test strips.

I started with the high solution. No reason, it was the one that came out of the box when I opened it. I didn't really know what I was doing. This evening I have used the other solution - the low one - by accident. Will it affect the accuracy of the readings?

I test with control solution once every 2 months!
I use the low one first, then the high one! I was told that you are meant to use both solution's! As the machine has to be able to know the difference between high and low readings!
I know it means 2 test sticks but it gives the machine chance to be able to even itself out!
Hope someone will come along and give more advice, that is all that i know about it! Hope that it helps.

The control solution is not going to affect any readings your meter gives.

It is just a standard test to see that the meter is reading accurately within tolerances. If the readings given are within the figures printed on the bottles then your meter is just fine.
As Sandy states, use both the high and low solutions if you suspect your readings are innacurate ?
