I've been diagnosed with t2dm for almost 10 years. Most of the time I have controlled it as non diabetic with a low carb diet. The last 3 years I have used 2x500mg Metformin. It seems a bit more difficult to control with the diet alone. Has anyone else experienced that? It doesn't help that I have chronic fatigue syndrome so I exercise as much as I can but sometimes end up bedbound. The most I can manage per week is 35000-45000 steps. I do some weights also.

Hi @Angelofthemarches

Cool avatar name :)

I think the general advice is that diet matters more than exercise but I certainly find some exercise really helps.

My thoughts are that not everyone will control their diabetes with diet alone. And that is absolutely not a failure. Medication is available to help you. we all need to find a way that works for the whole of us. Some can manage with just diet, some may manage with just diet for a while before needing medication and some need medication. For me the important thing is to find a way that works for you- the whole you.

I haven't been diagnosed as long as you and usually can manage with just diet but went back on metformin for a while as my previous job was highly stressful which did not help my levels.

Chronic fatigue is challenging so you have my sympathy trying to manage both.

Good luck :)
