Hello all!. I’m really sorry if I have missed something here I did have a brief look. I have been sent home from work for 3 months due to the corona virus. I feel completely fine and I have no symptoms. My boss said I’m not allowed back into work for 3 months and have to self isolate. My fear is that I have been put on ssp which is only £95. I’m going to be loosing over £200 a week and I think it is unfair as I’d much rather work and risk getting the virus other than feeling a lot worse mentally by loosing all this money. Is there anything I can do or else I am entitled to?

If this is because your diabetic you have a case because your not required to self isolate.

If this is because your business is doing this to every one your in the same boat with lots of people im afraid. If your being singled out because your diabetic then you can push back if you wanted to. Diabetics are not required to self isolate.

Depends if you want to work or not, if you prefer to isolate then your getting your wage

Official advice is in my signature. It’s getting misquoted a lot.

I agree you are not (as yet) in a category where it is required to isolate. Only the most vulnerable of the 3 need to. Diabetes is in the middle group of stringent self distancing not isolation.

Many diabetics would prefer to have your employer than have to work but obviously money is a factor

I’d much rather work and risk getting the virus

I understand and feel your anguish, but your preference is unwise. Your health, the health of others who you come into contact with, and the limited NHS resources are more important.

My boss said I’m not allowed back into work for 3 months and have to self isolate.

Does that mean the firm is still working? I don't know what sort of firm you work but if everyone else has carried on that might be an issue. However, after Boris's announcement last night you will have to see what difference that makes to your situation, both in way of finances and whether your firm can still be open.

All the best.

I agree with @LooperCat that it’s best not to work if you’re given the option. I believe there’s legislation that’s probably going to be ratified on Thursday which will give the self-employed financial support during this period, and if that’s happening then it will, I hope, follow that everyone will eventually have better financial support.
Apparently this virus is totally new to humans and therefore there’s no history of appropriate immune responses in our vocabulary. It’s early days yet. We need, I think, to deny it the opportunity of using us as a host. It seems to have gone worldwide now, country after country is imposing lockdown, or lockdown-like conditions.

Hi all.
I've trawled through the forum in the search for an answer.
It would appear that as a type 1 DB, I am not at further risk than anyone else and I continue to work albeit at a reduced capacity (50%) as workiing from home is not an option for my type of employment. I'm employed by the bias of an employment agency whereas those employed directly by the company DO have the possibility.
With the hype, I'm starting to worry and am looking to self-isolate completely but wonder if this is justified?
Would appreciate your thoughts on the matter ....

Stay safe :)
