I see that hard cheese is ok for LCHF, what about cottage cheese?

Yes, generally if it's less than 10g/100g, better still 5g/100g if eaten in quantity. Don't go low-fat though.

Well I have it . It is cheese. If you wished you can make it a little thicker by putting the cheese into a clean cloth and straining whey from it...do this in the fridge. You can do this with yoghurt as well.

I had 2 slices of brown seedy toast and egg mayo for breakfast and my level only went up 0.3 after 2 hours. I hope it's as good with the cottage cheese :)
Having said that, the test before my lunch came back as 8.0, and an immediate retest came back 6.4 so I still don't know where I am at really lol

What is your normal range before lunch? Is there a figure close to an 8 in there?
Did you do a 3rd test? This is helpful to find which of the first 2 is more likely to be correct, look for a cluster of similar readings then average them.

You did well to only go up by 0.3mmol/ after 2 slices of bread. I go up more than that after 1 slice. I would try this meal again a few times to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

I agree with Blue regarding the rise following 2 slices of bread. That may have been significantly influenced by the fat in the egg mayo, so it might be insightful to try your bread with a few fillings/toppings to understand if the bread is really tolerable, or if it's tolerable, when consumed with higher fat foods to smooth any rise. If the egg mayo was heavily fatted (by the mayo), your pre lunchtime reading could have reflected a slow, steady rise influenced by that. If you have another very modest rise, it could be useful to test again 30 or 60 minutes later, just to see if the number is increasing or decreasing.

I know it seems complex, but unfortunately, this condition is.

I like cottage cheese but for some reason it does push my bs up more than you would expect so my advice is test and adjust your portion size if necessary- I can manage a soup spoon full only. Testing is always the key as we all react differently and what is a good food for one may not be for another

My before lunch has been between 7.0 and 7.8over the days ive been trying LCHF.
Major achievement award goes to me when the kids wanted mcdonalds for tea and I didn't even so much as lick a chip. I did however hide away in the bathroom til they'd finished lol

I love cottage cheese, but also like strong cheese.
I had a strange reading of 10.2 before my evening meal last night,I tested three times and more or less the same, only had sardins ,tomato, cucumber, and a slice of seeded bread for lunch.also went for a quick walk.
Usually 5s at that time, anyway at 10pm it was 6.5.

That's great! Isnt it strange when you get an unexpected blip! Id love to get down to that level, only managed once since starting lchf. But my levels must be lower than when I was eating my normal... Pasta, potatoes, rice, takeaways, and heaps of chocolate. I have to keep reminding myself it is t going to happen over night and that I am heading in the right direction.
