Cough Medicines

My son is Type 1 and has developed a chesty cough. What cough medicine would you suggest - don't want anything to mess his sugar levels up too much, so ideally sugar free medicine, or does anyone use any homemade remedies to help? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated .

When I have a chesty cough I go for Robertson's as its sugar free and not sugary in taste so he will need something to drink straight away for the taste but that is the best one out there for diabetics as I have tried the rest and they do play with your blood sugar levels and I find that doesn't make any difference to them and it's non drowsy as well
