Morning all,

This may seem like im asking a really daft question but,

What over the counter cough and cold remedies are suitable if any and can i still use nuroefen liquid for kids.

Ajay my son seems to of woke up with a temp coughing and runny nose. not sure what to avoid.

All advice welcome x

Hi Famfitz,
i know that a lot of the childrens liquid remedies have a lot of glucose in them which isn't maybe the best when your son has a bad cold with probably higher than normal sugars. There are some that are sugar free if they are they usually have sugar free on the front quite clearly but you can always tell by reading the label on the back. if your son is to small or can't swallow tablets there's dissolvable paracetamol which can taste a bit nicer if made up with sugar free squash. If you have to go out to get something ask the pharmasist for help chosing the best one. keep a close eye on his blood sugars and hopefully he'll feel better soon.

PHOLCODEINE is available sugar free and is a very good cough supressant. I think there is a version of it suitable for children as well as adults.

Thanks for the advice.

This is his first time being ill since being dianosed last month, his blood sugars are mainly up so far so lots of fluid also have those cool strips on his head.

Hope he is better for christmas.

Hi absolutely avoid anything with glycerin in, you can get sugar free paracetemol, I haven't seen sugar free neurofen yet, I would ask the pharmacist to be on the safe side.
