Type 1 Coughs and diabetes

Is there any connection between having a hacking cough for 4weeks and diabetes.

Felt very angry yesterday when I saw a new Dr. He also said I should take honey and there was a link between diabetes and coughs. Lost my rag and said I didn't need preaching to after having T1 for 54 years. He gave me antibiotics but was still coughing non stop all night and today

There is unlikely to be a link, however there has been a virus going around this year that has caused a long term hacking cough. It's been affecting all types, 0-3, and takes ages to shake.

It's likely that this is what you have.

Be cautious, if it is a virus antibiotics aren't going to help.

Must admit I wasn't aware there was a link between the two, wonder if they meant that people with diabetes are more susceptible to colds & flu (which in turn can lead to a cough)?

Some blood pressure medications (ACE inhibitors) can lead to a dry cough as a side effect.
