Hi, I wonder if anyone can help? My 15 month old daughter, for the past 2 weeks has started waking in the night for drinks, she drinks an awful amount and of course wee's a lot we are constantly changing her nappy. My son who is now 5 was diagnosed November last year and he showed the same symptoms but as we were not aware of this he went into a DKA. Today I have tested her bloods, this morning she was 3.8 with 0.5 ketone and this afternoon 3.7 with 1.5 ketones she is eating and not poorly but I don't want to come close to loosing her like we nearly did with my son. I don't know what her readings should be as a small child? Any help is great, thanks in advance.

I think I would seek professional advise from your gp or consultant, at least then you should get a correct reply. Can understand your worries. let us know what you find out xx

If I were you with any suspicions just got straight to your local gp or even if it gets worse go straight to the hospital because if you do suspect it'll only get worse

Took her to the GP this afternoon, they won't do a blood test due to her age however want to get a urine sample which is tricky in itself as she's in nappys but will be trying my best. Fingers crossed for her. Thank you all xx

Struggling to get a urine sample off her, she's drinking so much but rather then a gush of pee in one go it's trickles every few minutes. Her levels are in the 3's if there not in the 3's it's in the 7's, am I. Over reacting?

Your not even over reacting at all because for all you know she could be diabetic and it's better to know wether or not she is and your just being a fantastic mother to your daughter by worrying about her

Hi @Jodiefeehan1 how are you doing? I wonder why the go won't test her bloods? Can you speak to your sons pdsn and see what they say? My 2yr old was diagnosed in Dec and so worried about my baby twins developing it I'm constantly watching them and if your daughter showing signs then it's worrying for you (I'm type1 too). Her bloods that you have done seem pretty good though. Maybe GP thinks it's something else??

We are ok thank you, got a sticky bag to put on her bits for a dip test, they don't want to do the capillary blood test with her being so young unless they absolutely have to, I'm guessing that would be the next step maybe. The pdsn has said that it has to all go through the GP for referrals etc. Oh wow 2? What a brave little one you have!! Atleast we are able to text ours so we can catch it early. I'm
Hoping it's something else like an infection and I am reading into something that isn't there. Have you tested your twins?
